Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) provides an effective program of leadership development, motivation and recognition for secondary, post secondary and collegiate students enrolled in health occupations programs. HOSA is a powerful instructional tool that works best when it is integrated into the Health Occupations Education (HOE) curriculum and classroom.

2008 Call to Conference

New Fire Science Technology Program at NJC

The addition of the Fire Science Technology degree completes the emergency public service offerings at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. A fire academy is a 16 week hands-on skills course that prepares men and women for a profession as either a career or volunteer fire fighter.

Many fire departments are hiring personnel who have also completed advanced paramedical training. In today's world Fire Chief's have the luxury of selecting the highest trained applicants. People seeking a fire career may possess an EMT or first responder certificate, CPR certificate, Hazardous Materials Awareness certificate, college credits and practical experience to make them a more successful candidate. Many fire departments are also hiring personnel who have completed advanced paramedical training.
